Upgrade Operating System (OS) on my BlackBerry

1. Download Desktop Manager http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/ at his link you can download for windows and Mac. Blackberry Desktop Manager allows you load your OS to the BB, add applications, back up your data, custom settings and contacts, sync music, switch devices and more. When setting up DM, choose the option for personal account, not the one which associates it with your work email, unless you have access to changing settings on BES. BES is the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, which is mostly used by companies to deliver company emails and settings to your BlackBerry.

2. Download New BlackBerry OS Software
Download the new BlackBerry OS and save it to your PC, install Desktop Manager,  it will detect the official OS if it is issued by your carrier. Or if you download OS from other Carries or Leaked OS, you can install by deleteing the vendor.xml file found at this location on most Windows PC machines: C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesResearch In MotionAppLoader

3. Install New OS Software to your PC
When you have OS installation file on your PC double click on it and follow installation instructions. When this is done make sure you don’t have your Desktop Manager opened and that your phone is not yet connected to your PC.

4. Upgrade OS on your BlackBerry
When you connect your BlackBerry via USB, it will prompt you to install the new OS. Simply follow the wizard and select the applications you want to install. Once this is done, you just have to click “Next” until the process is finished. Never unplug the BlackBerry while the device is upgrading.

Whole installation takes about 45 minutes and again I stress the importance of NEVER unpluging your BlackBerry during that time! When installation is done you will notice that your BlackBerry takes more time to boot for the first time than usual.

When booted you’re done! You have new OS on your device!
